ARGOS — Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 13, 2026
ARGOS ("the app", "we") is a pet-safety check-in tool. If you stop responding to scheduled check-ins, the app notifies the emergency contacts you've chosen so they can look after your pets. This page explains what data the app collects, why, and what we do with it.
1. What we collect
- Your information you enter: your name (required) and home address (optional). Your name and address appear on the private alert link we text to the emergency contacts you choose, so they know who is asking for help and where to go to find and care for your pets. Stored on our servers so the app can sync across reinstalls.
- Pet information you enter: name, species, optional photo, optional care notes. Stored on our servers so the app can sync across reinstalls and so we can include the pet's name in alert messages to your emergency contacts.
- Emergency contact information you enter: name and phone number of each contact. Stored so we can text and/or call them on your behalf when an alert fires.
- Check-in activity: timestamps of when you opened the app and checked in, plus the timezone of your device. Used to schedule the next check-in and to decide when an alert should fire.
- Device identifier: a random ID we generate when you first install the app. Used to associate your data with your install and to deliver push notifications. Not your phone's IMEI, MAC address, or Apple/Google advertising ID.
- Crash and error diagnostics: if the app crashes, basic technical information (operating system version, app version, the stack trace of the crash) is sent to our servers so we can fix bugs. Does not include the contents of your pet or contact data.
- Subscription and purchase data: if you buy ARGOS Premium, we record which subscription you bought and whether it is currently active (handled through our payment processor RevenueCat and the app store you purchased from — the Apple App Store or Google Play) so we can unlock premium features and restore your purchase if you reinstall. We never see or store your card number — payment is handled entirely by the app store (Apple or Google).
2. What we do NOT collect
- Your email address, date of birth, or any government identifier.
- Your precise location, GPS coordinates, or location history. The only address we store is the optional home address you type in yourself.
- Photos other than the ones you explicitly attach to a pet profile.
- Your contact list, call log, SMS history, or any data from other apps.
- Microphone audio, camera input, or biometric data.
- Browsing history outside the app.
3. How we use the data
- To run the core check-in feature: schedule reminders, detect a missed check-in, and dispatch alerts to your chosen contacts.
- To send those alerts as SMS messages (via Twilio) and push notifications (via Apple Push Notification Service and Firebase Cloud Messaging).
- To sync your data across app reinstalls so you don't lose your setup if you replace your phone.
- To fix bugs and improve reliability (via the crash diagnostics described above).
4. Sharing with third parties
We share data only with the service providers needed to operate the app:
- Twilio — receives the phone number and SMS text of each alert we send on your behalf. Twilio privacy policy.
- Google AdMob — serves the single banner ad at the bottom of the home screen. We request non-personalized ads only, which means AdMob is not given your data for ad targeting. AdMob still receives technical information (device type, OS, app version, a non-identifying ad ID) as required to serve the ad. AdMob / Google partner privacy.
- Apple Push Notification Service and Google Firebase Cloud Messaging — receive the push notification payload (the alert text) and your device's push token to deliver it. Apple privacy, Firebase privacy.
- Replit — hosts our backend servers and database. Replit privacy policy.
- RevenueCat — processes and stores your subscription purchase history on our behalf so the app knows whether your subscription is active. RevenueCat privacy policy.
- Apple App Store — handles the actual subscription payment and billing. We never receive your payment details. Apple privacy.
We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with advertisers, data brokers, analytics companies, or anyone else outside the providers listed above.
5. Advertising
The app displays a single banner ad served by Google AdMob at the bottom of the home tab. As noted above, we request non-personalized ads only — AdMob does not receive your pet, contact, check-in, or device data for ad targeting. Standard AdMob technical fields (device model, OS, app version, language, ad ID) are sent by the AdMob SDK as part of every ad request.
6. Data retention
Your pet and contact data is stored as long as the app is installed on your device. If you uninstall the app, your local data is removed automatically. The server-side copy is retained until you request deletion (see the next section) or until 24 months have passed without any check-in activity from your device, at which point the row is automatically purged.
Check-in activity timestamps and alert-dispatch logs are retained for 90 days for debugging and reliability purposes, then deleted.
7. Your rights — viewing or deleting your data
Delete your account and data from inside the app: open the app, go to the Settings tab, scroll to "Delete Account & Data", and confirm. This permanently and immediately deletes your account and everything associated with it — your name, home address, pets (including photos), emergency contacts, check-in history, and your server-side record. This cannot be undone. (Active subscriptions are billed by the Apple App Store or Google Play and must be cancelled there separately.)
Or request deletion by email: to request a copy of all data we hold about your install, or to delete it, email support@argospetsafety.com. Include the device ID shown in the app's Settings screen so we can locate your row. We will respond within 30 days. There is no charge for either request.
Uninstalling the app does not by itself trigger server-side deletion — you must email the address above. This is intentional so a reinstall can restore your setup (see Section 3).
8. Children
ARGOS is not designed for or directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us data, email the address in Section 7 and we will delete it.
9. Security
Data is transmitted between the app and our servers over HTTPS (TLS). The server-side database is access-controlled and not publicly reachable. The shared API key the app uses to authenticate to our servers is embedded in the app binary; if you reverse-engineer the app you can extract it, but it grants only the same access the app itself has — there are no admin operations behind it. We follow industry-standard practices for storing secrets and database credentials.
10. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes (e.g. start collecting a new type of data, add a new third-party recipient), we will update this page and the "Last updated" date at the top. Trivial wording fixes will not bump the date.
11. Contact
